DESCRIPTION: In this painting we see a xoloitzcuintle puppy sitting on a table surrounded by elements used in Mexican rituals. According to the Aztecs this dog had magical powers, with which it could protect the living and guide the deceased to the underworld, so people had dogs that took care of them in life and when they died, they had to be sacrificed and buried with their owners so that they could guide them on their last journey.
